Your Sunday Evening Forecast
Temperatures this afternoon are into the lower 90s with upper 80s towards the coastline. We didn’t see any rain today but offshore are showers and storms that will be inland over the next seven days because of Gulf moisture. Monday rain chances are at 30% and we will keep isolated to scattered chances of storms every afternoon. The tropics remain active. Maria is now a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 75 mph and it will only get stronger as it approaches the Lesser Antilles by midweek.
Lee is now a tropical depression and will continue to weaken because of strong wind shear. Hurricane Jose is a category 1 with winds of 90 as it continues north. Tropical storm watches are now up for New Jersey up to Massachusetts. Jose should remain out to sea but rip currents will be an issue for the east coast. Also we are now five days away from the start of fall. Fall officially begins at 3:20 in the afternoon here in Victoria. The marine forecast is looking good with smooth bays and 1-2 foot seas. The next seven days calls for more of the same. Highs will remain in the lower 90s and lows into the middle 70s with isolated to scattered storms afternoon.
