Yoakum ISD school bus collides with tractor trailer

44 Yoakum ISD students were on board the school bus when it attempted to turn into the Primary School Annex and a tractor trailer crashed into it.

According to Yoakum ISD Superindentant Tom Kelley a sun glare made it look like the road was clear, but when the bus turned a tractor trailer crashed into the back end.

Because they were in a school zone the tractor trailer was going a slower speed.

Yoakum Chief of Police Karl Van Slooten says the bus driver was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way.

Some of the students were checked out at local hospitals but no major injuries were reported.
