Yoakum beats Cuero in 110th meeting between rivals
Cuero, TEXAS — For the second consecutive season, Yoakum got the better of the Gobblers.
Yoakum jumped out to a 33-point lead against the defending 4A Division II State Champs while shutting down the Cuero offense until late in the second half. The Gobblers managed to cut the lead to 40-21, but that was as close as they would come.
The Friday matchup was the 110th meeting between the two arch rivals, constituting one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the state.
Next week, the Bulldogs will return home to host Gonzales while Cuero looks to bounce back at El Campo.
