Woodway burglary suspect arrested
VICTORIA, Texas- On Friday, March 13th, 2020 9:50 a.m., Victoria Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Woodridge Dr. in response to a burglary.
A 50-year-old male was upstairs inside of his locked residence when he heard a commotion downstairs. He was approached by an unknown white male in the stairway.
An altercation between the two ensued until the offender threatened to shoot the victim. The victim was then ordered to go into the restroom and wait.
The victim heard the offender breaking things and going through items inside of the residence before leaving at which time the police department was called.
A description of the offender was broadcast via police radio and officers swarmed the area.
A VPD officer located a subject matching the offender description at Stripe’s, 10408 NE Zac Lentz Pkwy. The subject was identified as 36-year-old Berwick, LA resident, Michael Martin Jr.
During a search of Martin, once his cap was removed, the victim’s social security card was stuck to his head. Other property belonging to the victim was also located in the area.
Martin was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation and remains in the Victoria County Jail.
Investigation revealed that Martin had apparently entered the victim’s residence via a “doggy door”.
