Woman accused of murdering husband now released on bond
VICTORIA, Texas — Newscetner 25 first reported on June 21 st that Victoria County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rose Marie Garcia, 56, on murder charges in connection with the death of her husband, Mario Garcia.
Mario Garcia was reported as a “Missing Person” on Tuesday, June 18 by Rose Marie Garcia, his wife.
Victoria County Sheriff’s Office was notified Thursday of a body in a wooded area in one of Mario Garcia’s properties located on the 1000 block of Beck Road West.
Rose Marie Garcia was named a suspect after interviews were conducted, and she provided a confession.
A search warrant affidavit sates that Rose Marie Garcia “shot the victim in the head with the 4-10 single shot shotgun inside of the residence and cleaned the crime scene.”
The shotgun used in the crime was then hidden “in a shed…located behind the residence…hidden in a crack in the floor.”
The affidavit also states that Rose Marie Garcia kept a “hatchet and large knife by her bedside that Mario never had knowledge of her being in possession of.”
The couple were married for more than 40 years.
Rose Marie Garcia was released from custody after posting the $250,000 bond on Tuesday.
Keith Weiser, Garcia’s attorney, commented on her release saying, “She was entitled to reasonable bail. Her family posted her bond, so she could get out and help me defend her.”
The case will now go to a grand jury to decide whether Garcia will be indicted.
