Widespread Clouds, Rain and Thunderstorms through the Weekend

Deep layer tropical moisture and marginal instability will extend a pattern of widespread showers and thunderstorms through the weekend over the Crossroads. Significant rains of 2 to 3 inches may impact some locales, while most folks can expect 1 to 1 1/2 inches of rainfall. The wet pattern will begin to abate next week with the passage of an upper level trough, diminishing rain chances to 30 percent Wednesday and 20 percent Thursday. Meanwhile, Hurricane Florence in the Atlantic is a major problem first for Bermuda and possibly later for the U.S. New England coast by late next week. We are keeping tabs on other disturbances in the tropical Atlantic that may pose a threat for the Caribbean in a week, or so.
