Wharton Sheriffs rescue trapped horse

Wharton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 9:30 Saturday morning to rescue a horse that found its way into a septic tank.

WCSO Sheriff Shannon Srubar said the cover of an abandoned septic tank broke causing the horse’s legs and back-end to fall into the ground.

Community members joined WCSO in the rescue efforts. Eventually, a local wrecker company brought in some machines, and that along with ropes were used to pull the horse to safety by noon.

Sheriff Srubar said although the horse looked worn-out, injuries were minimal.
