Wet Fourth of July With More Rain To Come

Showers and storms are now entering the crossroads with an upper level disturbance moving through Texas. Parts of Houston experienced some flooding when heavy rain moved very slowly through the city. We will see the rain continue into the evening. With rain and storms still in the area tonight, firework shows could be in trouble. Showers and storms will continue Thursday and Friday. Friday will be wetter with another tropical wave heading in our direction. The wave is currently east of Florida. With the upper high north of us, it is allowing for waves of showers and storms to roll underneath the high. Along with the good rain chances, temperatures will be held in check only into the lower 90s.

Rain chances will decrease beginning next week and highs will soar back into the middle 90s. In the tropics, we are watching two areas in the Atlantic. First, there is an area of disturbed weather near Bermuda which will stay out to sea. NHC gives this area a 50% of development in the next five days. In the eastern Atlantic, Invest 95-L has a 70% of development in five days. The models have this tropical wave heading towards the Lesser Antilles. Hurricane Center mentioned Invest 95-L will feel some wind shear that may keep it from developing. We will continue to monitor the tropics over the next few days. The peak of the season is upcoming in August and September.
