West Softball Head Coach Leaving

White Takes Bay City Job

After leading West softball to the playoffs, the Warriors head coach is leaving.
John White, becoming softball head coach at Bay City high school. White was promoted from assistant to head coach at West with four games left in 2017. He led the Warriors to a sixth place district finish last year. This season, White led West softball to fourth in district, its first playoff spot in seven years and their first ever sweep of East. Coach White told me Tuesday how tough it is to leave.

“It’s very hard. It’s hard to leave the kids that you’ve worked with for four years. I was at West long enough to see a class all the way from freshman to senior. You build a relationship with those kids and it’s hard to say goodbye to them for sure.”

West softball senior Breanna Young, picked to play in the ninth annual Crossroads High School Softball All-Star game.
