West soccer gets win, draw against King

Warrior soccer hosted a pair of games at Memorial Friday night.

VICTORIA, Texas — West soccer hosted King for district games against at Memorial Stadium Friday night, getting a draw from the girls and win from the boys.

In the first game, the West girls jumped out to a 13th minute lead after a misplay by the Mustangs goalkeeper opened the door for an easy Kassandra Persinger goal. Despite the early edge, the Warriors weren’t able to find the back of the net again as they settled for a 1-1 tie at Memorial. Macey Franz had six saves in goal for West.

In the second game, the West boys beat King 4-1 to improve to 2-0 in district. Finding the back of the net for the Warriors in the win were Owen Urbina, Justin Trenck, Mateo Lauper, and Victor Chavarria. Jayden Dolezal, Allen Rojas and Kase Eliot registered assists in the victory.

Next Friday night, West boys and girls soccer will host Calhoun at Memorial Stadium.
