West girls soccer left in playoff limbo
Warriors won't learn playoff fate until at least May 4th
VICTORIA, Texas — With the UIL announcing this week that statewide competition will be suspended until at least May 4th, West girls soccer is waiting for a shot at another game that may not come.
As teams throughout the Crossroads adjust to life without sports, the Warriors are in a heightened state of limbo — both unsure of their playoff fate, and if those playoff games will ever take place.
“It could go either way,” said West girls soccer coach Courtney Stoltenberg. “So we’re just waiting until we can at least practice again, cause once we can we’ll at least treat it like we’re in the playoffs until we figure out our fate.”
The Warriors are vying for the fourth and final district playoff spot, but after falling to East last Friday West needs King to lose or tie their final game to make that happen. King and Carroll were set to play their final game on Monday, after the UIL’s initial announcement that competition had been suspended.
