West Football Puts On The Pads 8-20

Warriors' Only Pre-Season Scrimmage Friday

The heat is not stopping West football from going on with pre-season workouts.
The Warriors are in their second week of workouts, their first full week with pads on, as they get ready for their only pre-season scrimmage. West returns three starters on offense, including quarterback Donovan Harris and All-State running back Tyvon Hardrick. Among the six returning starters on defense, All-State defensive back Bryce Sitka. Our Sean Coffey talked with Harris — who took over at quarterback last year after an injury to Jordan Fillmore — about coming into this season as the unquestioned starter.

“It’s just stepping up and being a leader like I’m supposed to be. I’m pretty looked up to, I think I’m one of the main seniors around here that everybody looks up to. So, just stepping in and filling the role is what I need to do.”

West football’s only pre-season scrimmage comes up Friday night at 6:30 at Memorial Stadium. The Warriors will take on La Grange.
