West-East Boys Basketball Preview
Warriors Look For Sweep Of Titans
West and East face each other in boys basketball for the second time this season.
The Warrior boys, in fourth place in district at 8-5 after a 26-point win over Moody last Friday night. The West boys, still with a shot at the playoffs with a week left in district. Our Sean Coffey asked two West boys what the strengths of the team have been so far this season.
Said junior La’Trell Barfield, “We’re just moving the ball well, communicating on defense, and just getting shots.”
Said senior Andrew Shelton, “I think we’re communicating better, and we just have a better chemistry. And getting to pass the ball around more.”
It’s been a rough district season for East boys basketball. The Titans, 2-11 going into their last week of the season. Two East boys told me the best things their team is doing heading into the West rematch.
Said forward Ed Clay, “We’re getting better on communication, moving the ball faster and getting back down on defense.”
Said forward Nydric Dean, “I feel we’re doing good defensively and offensively at certain times. But, I don’t know, it don’t always go as planned.”
