West defeats La Joya Palmview for bi-district championship

West football has their first playoff victory since 2017.

The Warriors defeated La Joya Palmview, 44-7 at Memorial Stadium Friday night behind four rushing touchdowns from all-state running back Tyvon Hardrick. All four of those scores came in the first half as West jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead they would never relinquish.

Despite starting the season 1-4, the team insists they never doubted themselves.

“We have a lot of heart, man,” said senior quarterback Donovan Harris. “Every time we step on the field we know it could be our last game so everybody comes out here and plays their hearts out.”

The Warriors will play Harlan in the area round next week.
