West athletes wish East “Good luck” before the Battle of the Boot

The Warriors have had the boot in their possession since last year's 50-20 win over the Titans

VICTORIA, Texas — The Game of the Week will feature the East Titans and the West Warriors who are coming off huge wins last week. The Warriors beat the C.C. King Mustangs 61-21. The Warriors have had the boot in their possession since last year’s 50-20 win over the Titans. Since then, the Warriors have had to find a new quarterback and running back. Warriors head coach Courtney Boyce says in order to be successful this week, they are going to need to put together all aspects of the game and play as fast as they did against the Mustangs.

I mean this is one game, but it is a big game, it’s always a game thats circled on the calender, says Boyce. It has nothing to do with me, it’s about our kids and gives our kids a good chance to showcase all the hard work they’ve put in.

Running back Dion Green says he is confident about bringing the boot home for his senior year.

This week we are practicing harder just for this game, this game is the game of the year. Thats why I have high [expectations] for this game.

Junior wide receiver D’andre Fillmore says he has been working on getting faster to help his offense and defense make big plays. When he heard that the Titans beat the undefeated Flour Bluff Hornets last week he was shocked.

I’m looking forward to the win. This game is going to mean a lot to us. We are going to have to come out with a lot of intensity… a lot. Because after their win againt [Flour Bluff] they are going to be big headed so we have to come back and beat them.

When asked about what the two athletes would say to the East team, they both said the same two words.

“Good Luck.”

The kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium Friday, October 1st.
