East Titans and West Warriors battle it out for the Boot
VICTORIA, Texas — Tonight is the huge match up between two local schools Victoria East and Victoria West. The East Titans have won the book in the last two seasons and are 7-3 in the past 10 years. This is their 11th year meeting for the boot and of course bragging rights. The Warriors are 1-0 in district 15-5a division 1 play. They are coming off a 48-27 win over Corpus Christi King. The Titans are 2-2 and 1-2 in district and have lost two straight district games to Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial and Flour Bluff, they are looking to rebound here tonight. Both teams are coming in with strong offenses. West quarterback Blake Buzzell has averaged 224 yards through the air and 64 yards on the ground, while running back Chase Patek has averaged 134 yards rushing so far this season. For East, Jadon Williams is averaging 112 yards passing and 56 yards on the ground, and Alan Jimenez is averaging over 50 yards rushing per game. The Titans pulled out a 21-14 win in the previous rivalry game behind a strong game from then quarterback Latavian Johnson. This game is going to be competitive not only because it’s a district game but because these players know the history of this rivalry and the pride that comes with winning the boot.
