VICTORIA, Texas - A gusty south southeast wind returned Gulf moisture and warmth to the Crossroads today, and even allowed very isolated rain showers. The return to what seemed to have been an endless summer will persist through Thursday and Thursday night, with lows in the 70s and highs in the 90s. A strong cold front will dive through the region early Friday, however, and send the mercury tumbling. Expect a morning high only around 80 before a gusty north wind, showers and thunderstorms overspread the region. By late afternoon, temperatures will be in the upper 50s. Most precipitation will be out of the area by Friday night football activities, but sweaters or jackets will be needed. The cool trend will continue through early Sunday, when onshore flow returns and begins the warming process. Highs rebound to the 80s and 90s the first of next week, but isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms also return.
