Major Flooding Threat Taking Shape for the Crossroads

Tropical Disturbance Gaining Momentum in Gulf

VICTORIA, Texas - A tropical disturbance in the northwest Gulf of Mexico is gradually becoming better organized and is forecast to bring heavy rainfall to the Crossroads over the next several days.  Major threats to the region include flash flooding, coastal flooding and riverine flooding but also may include strong, gusty wind if the system develops into the tropical depression.  Very slow movement and high rainfall rates will mean rainfall totals exceeding six inches through Wednesday, and more Thursday through Friday.  As the system moves north toward the weekend, rain chances gradually dwindle but river flooding will remain a threat through the weekend.  Clouds and rain will keep highs in the lower 90s, while lows remain in the middle 70s.
