VICTORIA, Texas - A strong cold front wedging into South Texas late today is bringing a stiff north wind with rapidly falling temperatures and widespread thunderstorms. The mercury will fall from the middle 80s to near 50 by daybreak and not rise much on Friday. Expect rain and thunderstorms to deposit between 2 and 4 inches of precipitation overnight along the coast, with lesser totals further north and west. The wet weather will continue through early afternoon Friday, with umbrellas likely not needed for Friday Football Fever. After a fair but cool weekend, a brief warm-up Monday comes to a sudden end with an even strong cold front. That system will bring numerous showers and storms Monday afternoon through midday Tuesday, along with temperatures that may not rise above 50 on Tuesday. Skies will be fair Wednesday and Thursday, but temperature will remain cool.
