WATCH: Hallettsville freshman earns Athlete of the Week
Jansky went 1 -3 with three RBIs and a walk
HALLETTSVILLE, Texas — The Pepsi Crossroads Today Athlete of the Week is Hallettsville Lady Brahmas third baseman Carson Jansky.
Jansky helped lead the Lady Brahmas to win their first state championship in school history. Jansky went 1 -3 with three RBIs and a walk. She was named the state MVP and was shocked when she heard her name be called.
I really didn’t expect it all and I’m a freshman, said Jansky. Not many freshman get MVP, so it really meant a lot to me.
Jansky’s older sister, Macie Jansky who is a sophomore catcher for the Lady Brahmas, has helped Carson on her success. Carson started playing softball at the age five. She too played catcher, but after a torn meniscus, she moved to first base. When Carson got to Hallettsville, the first base spot was filled so they put her at third. Her first year playing third and she is already doing big things.
I really set the bar high my freshman year, said Jansky. My sophomore year I’m looking to have an even better year even though I had a great year this year.
Jansky loves cooking and her favorite subject in school is principles of human services where she learns to cook. She likes making crawfish etouffee or jambalya. Another Lady Brahma says her favorite food is a potato. One of her favorite songs is “Something in the orange” by Zac Bryan.
