Waitr delivers free meals to local families for Thanksgiving
Victoria, TX – Waitr is spreading Thanksgiving cheer this week by feeding 2,000 families in need, including in the Victoria area. The popular app that lets you order food from local restaurants and brings it directly to you is delivering free hot Thanksgiving meals to the less fortunate through its “Share Thanksgiving” initiative.
The meal delivery is the culmination of Waitr’s five-week fundraiser where anyone using Waitr could make a donation to directly help feed a family in their own community during Thanksgiving. Waitr’s customers donated thousands of dollars via the food delivery app; and Waitr and its participating restaurant partners matched a portion of the donations.
All the money raised is being used to purchase hot meals from local restaurants, with Waitr delivering them to each family this week.
Share Thanksgiving is the concept of Waitr CEO Chris Meaux, who was looking for a way Waitr could give back to the communities it serves. “It means so much to everyone involved with Waitr to help those who are struggling this holiday season,” said Meaux. “It is so gratifying to me and our entire team to brighten the spirits of these families during Thanksgiving.”
Meaux said he couldn’t be happier with this year’s effort, as over 2,700 Waitr customers donated to the cause.
“As Waitr continues to grow, so does the impact of Share Thanksgiving,” he said. “Last year we were able to feed 1,000 families … and this year, thanks to the generosity of our loyal customers and terrific restaurant partners, we far surpassed that number, reaching our goal of feeding 2,000 families.”
Share Thanksgiving benefits families across the South, as Waitr operates in 235 cities and has more than 7,700 restaurant partners. Along with nominations sent into Waitr, teams in each area worked with local organizations to identify the families in need.
