Waco Storm win National softball tournament
VICTORIA, Texas — The first National Fast Pitch Softball Tournament to come to Victoria ended with a win for the Waco Storm on Sunday.
The Storm defeated the San Antonio Bombers 8-7 Sunday evening, coming back from a 7-1 deficit to win on a walkoff hit in the bottom of the fifth. Right fielder Brinley McNamara recorded the game winning hit for the Storm, who defeated the GPS Legends of Round Rock to reach the finals. Bryleigh Witt, who went 2 for 3 in the final with an RBI, scored the game winning run.
Ava Capek led the way for the Bombers with a single and two doubles to go along with an RBI. As a team, the Bombers batted .370 in the championship game. Gianna Martinez added two RBI in the loss.
Elimination rounds began on Sunday at the VYSC, with teams playing four games after suiting up for five on Saturday.
