VPD officer shoots at dogs to further protect himself
Victoria County Animal Control is handling the investigation
VICTORIA, Texas – On Wednesday, Oct. 27, at approximately 9:40 a.m., a Victoria Police Department officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of SW Ben Jordan Street in reference to aggressive animals.
According to local law enforcement, two dogs were behaving aggressively towards persons and other dogs in the area. The dogs then charged at the responding officer, resulting in one biting him. The VPD officer protected himself from further harm by discharging his firearm, striking the dogs.
The dogs then ran from the location. A relative of the owner eventually captured them. The dogs were then taken to a veterinarian, while the officer responded to an area hospital, where he received treatment for the bite wound.
Victoria County Animal Control also responded to the scene and is handling the investigation.
