VPD arrests suspect linked to Salem hit and run last Thursday
VICTORIA, Texas — The Victoria Police Department have made an arrest in the hit and run crash that took place on Salem Road last Thursday.
An 81 year old woman was hurt in the crash and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
We reported Tuesday night that Samson Lee Reyes was arrested last Friday after leading officers on two separate foot chases on Azalea Road.
Captain Eline Moya with Victoria Police Department confirmed Reyes is the man they believe caused the accident on Salem before leaving the scene.
“Through the investigation, through patrol officers doing follow ups, [we determined] the suspect did flee on foot. And so, they were able to gather information and, ultimately, have a warrant for his arrest,” said Captain Eline Moya, Victoria PD PIO.
Reyes has been charged with burglary of a building, unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest and escaping while arrested.
He’s being held on a $125,000 bond.
