Volunteer firefighters hold fundraiser for new trucks

VICTORIA, Texas – On Saturday, the Victoria County Volunteer Fire Department held their second annual fundraiser at a new location due to the pandemic.
Victoria County Volunteer Fire Department had their barbecue fundraiser with a drive-by style at the Victoria Regional Airport hangar.
Toni Stithem, President of the Victoria County Volunteer Fire Department, said last year they were able to do raffles and a silent auction along with the barbecue. Due to COVID-19 this year they had to go with plates and raffles.
They are raising money to purchase trucks for the department.
“This  one is a lot of fun to be with. It’s a big family we’re out here helping the community and helping each other and supporting each other. it means a lot to be a part of this group,” Stithem said.
Last year, due to the fundraiser they were able to buy all their volunteers new gear to keep them safe. They are hoping to get new trucks in a year or two.
