VISD temporarily suspends all athletic camps
VICTORIA, Texas — Victoria ISD will temporarily suspend all summer strength and conditioning camps and sport-specific workouts, for at least two weeks. In our effort to be transparent with our families and community, a student-athlete and coach in separate camps tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Another student-athlete was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. None of the positive cases were contracted on campus or at the voluntary practices.
This precautionary measure is in the best interest of the safety, health, and well-being of our students and staff. We commend our coaches and athletes for always adhering to and implementing the safety guidelines the University Interscholastic League (UIL) has set forth. We greatly appreciate their efforts in the past few weeks, as they have been diligent in keeping our students safe.
Coaches are communicating with the student-athletes and their parents. We anticipate resuming strength and conditioning and sport-specific camps on July 13, if it is deemed safe to do so.
