VISD Swim Invitational held Saturday morning

Teams from around the Crossroads competed at the VISD Aquatics Center

Victoria, TEXAS — VISD swimming’s long-awaited return to their home pool went off without a hitch.

The Aquatics Center played host to a swimming invitational Saturday morning, with teams from East, West, Faith, El Campo, Hallettsville, Corpus ISD and more competing in the pool just weeks ahead of regionals.

Several West Warrior swimmers stood out at the event, as Vivian Shepherd won first place in the girls’ 500 yard freestyle, and girls’ 200 yard IM. A day after winning gold in diving, Tanner Lule finished second in the boys’ 50 yard freestyle, while the West relay team took second place in the girls’ 400 yard freestyle relay.

“We had a big old cheer this morning, everybody is here, all the swimmers are here helping out with the meet,” said VISD swim coach Kathleen Fitzgerald. “This is their pool, this is their home.”

District swimming will take place in two weeks at the Aquatics Center.
