VISD releases new state accountability numbers

Dr. Quintin Shepherd, V.I.S.D. Superintendent, spoke Tuesday morning at the partnership meeting about the newly released numbers issued by the state.

Shepherd stated that V.I.S. D ‘s overall rating went from a 69 in 2018 to a 78 in 2019, which takes into account overall student achievement and improved resources available in the district to aid in student learning. Shepherd credits the principals and teachers in the district in helping V.I.S.D. to achieve these higher numbers.

” We are obviously showing great growth in some of our schools and across the board. The highlights are closing the achievement gaps for the district. We’ve made tremendous progress in that area. We are above the state average when it comes to graduation rates, and we have a lower percentage of dropouts for the state as well, ” said Shepherd.
