VISD implements clear bag policy for athletic facilities
VICTORIA, Texas — The Victoria Independent School District announced Monday, they will implement a new clear bag policy for all athletic facilities.
Starting with the 2019-2020 season, spectators can only bring clear bags that do not exceed 12 inches (30.48 cm) by 6 inches (15.24 cm) by 12 inches (30.48 cm). Click here to see all the requirements.
Spectators will be allowed to carry a non clear bag, if its smaller than 5 1/2 inches by 8 1/ 2 inches.
Exceptions to the size requirements and clear bag procedure apply only to necessary items like diaper bags, medical and media equipment.
VISD Communications Director Shawna Currie tells me why they decided to implement this.
“This is a proactive approach to help increase security and safety for our spectators and students and all of those that attend our athletic events.,” explains Shawna Currie.
