VISD held Paralympic Sports Clinic
Victoria Independent School District held their annual Paralympic Sports Clinic at the District Event Center Friday afternoon. The clinic is meant to teach children about adaptive sports and recruit children onto paralympic sports teams. Students learned physical disability skills and found out about opportunities to participate in paralymic sports. The clinic involved wheelchair basketball, track and wheelchair racing.
“You can adapt and overcome any situation. Just because you cant walk or whatever your disability is. Just because you have a disability doesn’t prevent you from competing and having a normal a normal life,” Bad News Chairs Coach, Danny Camacho said.
There will be a preview screening of the movie The Rebound A Wheelchair Basketball Story Saturday, January 28th at 1 pm at Liberty Campus Gym. The event is open to the public and free admission. Donations to the Bad News Chairs for travel and equipment expenses are welcomed.
