VISD Baseball In District Action
Titans Win, Warriors Lose
West baseball, getting to play its first home game of the season Tuesday night.
The Warriors lose to King, 8-0, to fall to 1-1 in district. Colton Salas was the losing pitcher. E.J. Rodriguez and Dawson Holly each hit doubles for the Warriors.
Not only was that West baseball’s home debut, it was also the debut of the new scoreboard at Riverside Stadium. Victoria Parks And Recreation services manager Jaymie Heibel tells me the total cost for the full scoreboard project, bought from Daktronics, costing over $33,000, and she tells me the funds for the project are coming out of the city’s hotel/motel dollars, the hot fund account.
East baseball, now 2-0 in district play after winning Tuesday night in Corpus Christi over Ray, 2-0. Cory Cann had the Titans’ RBI. The Titans’ Jacob Martinez tosses a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.
