VISD approves HB3 goals and administrators
The VISD Board of Trustees names new administrators
VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has approved new administrators for Patti Welder Middle School, West High School, and Athletic Director. The positions were open following the departure of Denise Canchola and Debbie Crick, who accepted employment outside the district, and Bobby Jack Wright, who retired.
Natalie Abrameit was appointed as principal at Patti Welder Middle School for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Abrameit has served as an assistant principal at East High School for the past five years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University and her Master of Business Administration in Education from the University of St. Thomas. Paul Fleener will serve West High School as principal for the 2020-2021 school year. Mr. Fleener comes to VISD from Cuero ISD, where he has led Cuero High School for the past four year. He also has experience in the region as a middle school and high school assistant principal. Mr. Fleener holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas State University, a Master of Education from Lamar University, and a Superintendent Certification from Sul Ross State University. Spencer Gantt, who has served as Assistant Athletic Director over the past year under Coach Wright, will move to Athletic Director. Gantt served as Athletic Director for San Benito CISD for
five years. He has been a licensed athletic trainer for 26 years and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University, Kingsville. District administration will work to fill the vacancy in the assistant principal position at Victoria East High School.
The Board also passes the HB3 goals:
Increase he percent of graduate that met the college, or military readiness from 51.9% to 75% by August 2023.
Increase the percent of 3rd grade students that score meets grade level or above on STARR Mathematics from 36% to 46% by August 2024.
Increase the percent of 3rd grade students that score meets grade level or above on STARR Reading from 34% to 44% by August 2024.
