Victoria’s YMCA aims to be open to the public by summertime
The YMCA is seeking lifeguards and swimming instructors
VICTORIA, Texas – The Barbara Bauer Briggs Family YMCA in Victoria is planning to open back up to the public by May 1st. After a year of COVID-19 preventing the YMCA from operating at full capacity, the YMCA in Victoria looks to come back strong just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Last summer, the YMCA swimming pool saw a total of 1500 people. In previous years, the pool would typically see around 3000-6000 people during the summer. Now with COVID vaccinations on the rise, YMCA wants the community to know that there’s a place to enjoy the hot weather this summer.
“It’s not about trying to get people specifically to the Y, its more just trying to get the community to know that there is a place that they can come and cool off and enjoy the summer right here in Victoria,” said Zachariah Reynolds, Aquatics Director of the Barbara Bauer Briggs Family YMCA.
Even with the opening of the pool, there will still be procedures in place to ensure a safe and fun environment during the summer to mitigate COVID-19.
“We’re continuing our cleaning procedures, staying safe, keeping in mind that COVID is still a worldwide pandemic, we still intend on keeping the public safe,” said Reynolds.
The YMCA is also actively seeking lifeguards and swimming instructors for this summer’s opening, if you’re interested in joining the YMCA team,
