Victoria YMCA ribbon cutting on April 1st
After roughly a year and a half of construction behind them, the Victoria YMCA is getting closer to finally opening its newly renovated facility to the community.
Chris Seilkop, CEO of Victoria Family YMCA, spoke at this morning’s Victoria Economic Development Partnership Meeting, regarding the progress of the renovations at the Y.
Seilkop said they met their 5.2 million dollar contribution goal, which means the planned expansion and renovations will be completed within the next few months.
Seilkop said increased membership, exercise classes, and youth camp activities lead to the need for a new and improved facility in Victoria.
Construction is being done in three phases, with the third phase wrapping up within the next several months.
” Phase 3 we plan to be done by late August, maybe mid summer if we can move a little faster. The basketball .Gym will be done in time for the summer basketball season, and the last part of the project will be the renovating of the 2 adult locker rooms,” said Seilkop.
On April 1st, a ribbon cutting will take place, officially opening the swimming pool and the new 6,000 square foot wellness center, which includes a larger free weight center, cardio machines, treadmills, weight machines and other exercise equipment.
The YMCA is located at 1806 North Nimitz Street in Victoria.
