Victoria West Little League Teams In Sectionals Play Updated 9:50 P.M.

West Junior League Starts Sectionals Friday

Two Victoria West Little League Baseball All-Star teams are in Sectionals action.

The West Senior League team, losing the deciding game three of its sectionals series to Bay City, 8-3, in El Campo Fourth Of July night. West comes one win short of making the state tournament starting Saturday at West University in Houston.

The West Junior League All-Star team won four of its first five playoff games on the way to winning the District 27 championship. Now they are ready for their next round of the playoffs, and I talked with the West Junior League All-Stars at practice.

Said catcher Logan Schmedt, “It’s pretty fun. I haven’t made it this far ever. It’s pretty fun to be able to do it.”

Said manager Lorenzo Longoria, “We are really excited. From what I understand this is the first time District 27 13-14 year olds won the championship. We were all excited, family, fans, coaches and all.”

Victoria West Junior League district champs, starting Sectionals Friday night at 6:00 in New Braunfels against Shiner.
