Victoria students gather for “Day Without Immigrants” protest
Protests are currently taking place all over the country in what organizers call a “Day without Immigrants”, and it was no different here.
Dozens of UHV students brought awareness to their cause by organizing a protest in downtown Victoria.
Students marched from the UHV campus to DeLeon Plaza holding signs and chanting “No More Hate.”
Demonstrators also joined in on the protest while the students walked across town.
UHV student Jessica Bueno shares why she has role in this protest for a cause she feels deeply about.
“Just because of where we come from, where we were born, what history we have, how we were raised. Just because of that that doesn’t mean we’re different from anybody else . That’s what makes us unique. That’s what makes us a community. Everyone coming from different parts, and becoming something, united,” said Bueno.
The students gathered once again at 7:00 p.m. at DeLeon Plaza to continue the message.
