Victoria restaurant planning to give out 500 free Thanksgiving meals to those in need

Froggy's Grub and Pub is in their second year of the Thanksgiving meal event, serving those in need

VICTORIA, Texas – Froggy’s Grub and Pub, a family-owned restaurant located off Navarro, is hosting Froggy’s Feast, an event where they give out a free thanksgiving meal to those in need.

With Thanksgiving now just days away Froggy’s Grub and Pub is going on their second year of offering the free meal. Froggy’s Feast is open to those who are in need of a hot meal, so whether that be someone experiencing homelessness or someone who just has no family nearby there is a plate for them. Last year Froggy’s dished out 300 plates but this year plans to do 500.

The event will be from 11 am to 2 pm and will be a drive-through style. In order to get a plate stop by Froggy’s located at 2902 N Navarro St., Midcoast Family Services on 120 S Main St #175, or Christ Kitchen located at 611 E Warren Ave, and pick up a voucher for a plate.

Froggy’s owner Wendy Trevino says although they’re only in their second year Froggy’s Feast has been successful and seems to be growing, adding that it was the pandemic that pushed them to do something that impacts the community.

“Christ Kitchen, who normally does a big Thanksgiving for the homeless, they weren’t able to do it last year. It was something that we’ve always wanted to do and put on our hearts, and so we just felt the calling that it was a great time to start,” says Trevino.

Plates will include turkey, dressing, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie.
