Victoria Public Library offers new library streaming service

VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria Public Library has expanded its digital offerings with Hoopla. Hoopla is a new streaming service providing adult library card holders with access to audio books, e-books, movies, music, TV shows and graphic novels.

You can sign up for Hoopla at using an email address and library card number.

You can access Hoopla through the following devices:

  • computer,
  • phone,
  • tablet,
  • virtual assistants such as Alexa,
  • smart TV services such as Roku and Apple TV, and
  • the Hoopla app on your mobile devices

You can also borrow up to give items per month with the option to borrow more than one item at a time.

Victoria Public Library also offers other e-book and audiobook services, including Flipster and OverDrive. Hoopla, on the other-hand, will help meet demand for graphic novels and audiovisual materials. Katrina Villela, library technical services manager, said that DVDs and graphic novels are among the most popular items offered for checkout.

According to Villela, Hoopla’s music library will help add onto existing services by offering newer albums.

Library staff members often visit other libraries in communities near Victoria. They also visit communities that have similar demographics. Through these communities, they learn about services that might be well-received in Victoria. Villela said she spoke with many library officials who have received positive feedback about Hoopla.

“The service is very easy to sign up for and use,” Villela said. “We’re confident that Hoopla will be accessible for our residents and that they will enjoy the range of available materials.”
