Suspect identified in shooting death of a 32-year-old AquCraigis Watson

VICTORIA, Texas—- The Victoria Police department held a press conference releasing the name of the suspect in the killing of AquCraigis Watson at Burdogz Bar and Grill.  Jose Gonzales Jr. has been charged with Watson’s murder, says the Interim Victoria Police Cheif, Mark Jameson.

“The investigation has revealed that the subject 32-year-old AquCraigis Watson an employee of the location had been shot after an altercation, which it occurred inside the establishment. Watson was not working at the time of the incident. The Victoria Police Department detectives were able to obtain suspect information and with the help of the District Attorney’s Office, secure an arrest warrant for the suspect 32-year-old Jose Gonzales,” said Jameson.

On Wednesday, Gonzales was stopped near Delmore Dr. Jameson says Gonzales was arrested and charged with murder. He was transported to the Victoria County Jail where he remains in custody with a 250,000 dollar bond.  




Update at 6:04 p.m.

VICTORIA, Texas—–On Tuesday, 10/27/2020, 11:51 PM, Victoria Police Department officers responded to Burdogz Bar & Grill, 1209 E. Airline Rd., in response to shots fired.

Investigation revealed that 32-year-old AquCraigis Watson had been fatally shot after an altercation which occurred inside of the establishment. An arrest has been made in connection to this shooting.

No additional information can be released at this time. This is an open investigation.

VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria Police are investigating a fatal shooting near Laurent and Airline.

A man in his 30s identified by family members as AquCraigis Watson was shot and killed. He worked at Burdogz Bar and Grill as a bartender. Friends and family said he had just received his license to work as a barber.

Friends and family said AquCraigis Watson had three children. He was born in Houston and grew up in Waco. His mother lives in the Dallas area. Family of Watson set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral costs. Click here to see the GoFundMe page.

The TABC is investigating the shooting. A spokesperson said they will work to determine if the business’ policies or practices contributed to the incident. The agency said it could not comment further on an open investigation.
