Victoria Parks and Rec prepare for Christmas events

The Victoria Parks and Recreation department are preparing for tonight’s Christmas on the Square and Saturday’s lighted Christmas parade.

Christmas on the Square, which takes place right now and ends at 9, will have food, games and even a petting zoo. Tomorrow, the lighted Christmas parade will take place, starting at 6. 135 participants are bringing their own flair and style to the Christmas parade, including Newscenter 25.

Parks and Rec Manager Jaime Heibel says these events couldn’t happen without the love and support of the community.

“We just want to thank everyone that comes out and they make the event worth it. Without the crowds coming in watching the parade, it wouldn’t… that’s what brings the joy to us. That’s why we do it. So, we want to thank everyone for coming out and… just enjoy!”

Both events are free and open to the public.
