Victoria Office of Emergency Management to host SkyWarn/Storm Spotter training
VICTORIA, Texas- To continue the Victoria Office of Emergency Management’s 2020 Training Series, they will be hosting the National Weather Service-Corpus Christi on Wednesday, February 5th, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, where they will be conducting their SkyWarn/Storm Spotter training.
NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service to join the SKYWARN® program. Volunteers include police and fire personnel, dispatchers, EMS workers, public utility workers and other concerned private citizens. Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches and nursing homes or who those have a responsibility for protecting others are encouraged to become a spotter. In this training, you will learn:
- Basics of thunderstorm development
- Fundamentals of storm structure
- Identifying potential severe weather features
- Information to report
- How to report information
- Basic severe weather safety
