This case is still under investigation

VICTORIA, Texas- Victoria Police confirmed that on Thursday a man was arrested on multiple charges after shooting a teenager and leading police on a 30-mile chase into a neighboring county.

Police said in a statement that on Thursday, October 14 they responded to a residence in the 3100 block of Gayle Drive in response to a shooting.

Their investigation revealed that 39-year-old Leroy Punch allegedly shot 18-year-old Mitchell Faultry, both Victoria residents.

VPD Officers rendered medical aid to Faultry until Victoria Fire Department arrived to transport him to a local hospital.

Then, another responding VPD officer observed Punch leaving the location in a vehicle. Officers attempted to stop him, however a chase ensued, according to a statement from VPD.

The pursuit lasted approximately 30 miles and traveled into Calhoun County before Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department deployed “spike strips” disabling the vehicle.

Punch was taken into custody at the Victoria County Jail. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a handgun.

VPD said that Punch was arrested for the following charges:

• Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon

• Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

Faultry, VPD revealed, was eventually flown to an out of town hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
