Victoria law enforcement officers honor 13 service members

Officers place purple and black ribbons on U.S. flags

VICTORIA, Texas – On Tuesday, Sept. 14, Victoria law enforcement officers honored the 13 service men and women who gave their lives in Afghanistan on Aug. 26, 2021.

Victoria County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Victoria Police Officers, Game Warden and investigators from the District’s Attorney’s Office placed purple and black ribbons on each of the thirteen U.S. flags displayed in front of the VCSO. A roll call was then made for each service member.

Colonel Mike Petrash presented the roll call of the service member’s rank and name. A ribbon was assigned to the flag honored the service member during the roll call. Each ribbon reveals their name.

“It is important that we honor and remember these service members and never forget the ultimate sacrifice they made for our nation,” said Sheriff Marr.
