VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria ISD is calling all community members to participate in building the Portrait of a Graduate for the district.

During the 2020-21 school, Building the Portrait of a Graduate began, according to a news release by VISD. Middle and high school student leadership groups participated in various activities throughout the school year. They reported to VISD Administrators on what they wanted for themselves to ensure they Find Their “&” following graduation.

The district continues this work throughout the 2021-22 school year. Students have developed the Portrait of a Graduate representing VISD students. Campus and student leadership focus groups have helped students identify the skills and characteristics they believe themselves and their peers need for success after high school.

According to the news release, students and the district have worked with VISD teachers, administrators and staff to identify the most important characteristics students need in order to reach success as a learner and individual. The next step for students is to gather more information from the community.

The Victoria ISD will host a Portrait of a Graduation Community Event on Wednesday, April 13. The event will take place at 1 p.m. Due to limited space, VISD has asked those interested in attending to RSVP by Wednesday, April 6.
