Victoria ISD has determined a new way to rank juniors and seniors due to COVID-19
VICTORIA, Texas- The Victoria Independent School District held a specially called board meeting to discuss new grading policies due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Major changes are occurring in VISD to adjust to the suspension of face to face instruction in schools across the county.
On Tuesday, March 24th, the Victoria ISD has nine weeks left in the school year. The changes to move to remote learning for students are underway. This will affect high school seniors in the district and how administrators will determine class rankings for the rest of the year.
“So for our seniors class rank is based on the fall semester grades. So for this year’s current seniors, the class ranks have already been determined. So what’s taking place this second semester will not impact them as far as class rank goes. They are just looking at receiving credit for the class that they are taking this semester,” said Shawna Currie, Victoria ISD Communications Director.
Class rankings for juniors will be determined by the grades received before Spring Break.
Shawna Currie says things are changing every day due to COVID-19. To keep up with the latest information from VISD click here.
