Victoria ISD board to appoint two new principals, athletic director
The Victoria ISD Board meets Tuesday to discuss the new appointments
VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria ISD board will hear superintendent Quintin Shepherd’s appointments for two principals, one for Patti Welder Middle School and the other for Victoria West High School.
Debbie Crick, founding principal of Victoria West High School held her position there since 2010, when the school opened, along with Cade Middle School and Victoria East High School. Crick took a new job outside of the district. Patti Welder Middle School principal Denise Canchola also took a new job outside the Victoria I.S.D. The athletic director Bobby Jack Wright of the district is retiring and a new athletic director will be named.
Also during the Tuesday meeting, before the board goes into closed session to discuss the appointments, the board will workshop evaluating and improving student outcomes and House Bill 3 goals . HB 3, which was signed by Governor Abbott in 2019 provides more money for Texas classrooms, increases teacher compensation, and reduces recapture and cuts local property taxes for Texas taxpayers. after the workshop the board will discuss and take action to approve House Bill 3 goals. The board will meet at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in the VISD Administration Building board room on 102 Profit Drive Victoria, for the special meeting, during which the appointments will be made.
