Victoria ISD announces DeLeon Elementary to continue remote learning until end of November
VICTORIA, Texas- The Victoria Independent School District announced Friday morning that DeLeon Elementary will continue remote learning until the end of the month.
On Wednesday, November 4th, DeLeon Elementary transitioned to remote learning after an outbreak of COVID-19 cases occurred on campus. Originally the school said this change would last for two weeks, and slated Wednesday, November 18 as the expected return date to resume face-to-face learning.
In a statement to Newscenter 25, Ashley Scott, Executive Director of Communications & Public Relations for Victoria ISD, said that the date to resume face-to-face learning has changed, “to maintain consistency for students, families, and staff; DeLeon will remain remote learning through the end of the week, resuming face-to-face learning on Monday, November 30, 2020.”
Scott explained that remote learning will continue through Friday, November 20th. VISD will take a recess for Fall Break beginning Monday, November 23 through Friday, November 27.
Students and staff will return to DeLeon’s campus following Fall Break on Monday, November 30th.
As more COVID-19 cases are being confirmed across the state, VISD urges the community to monitor yourself and your family for symptoms of COVID-19. Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
• Temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth
• Sore throat
• New uncontrolled cough causing difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
• Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
• New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever. Our students’ and staffs’ safety and health remain the district’s primary responsibility
