Victoria GOP meeting showcases candidates running in upcoming election

Tonight's meeting showcased a multitude of candidates.

VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria County Republican Party held its monthly meeting tonight with multiple candidates showing up to showcase their platforms in the upcoming primary election.

The meeting was opened with a speech by local veteran Vanessa Hicks-Callaway which was then followed by introductions by the candidates who will appear on the ballot in the upcoming primary election.

The monthly meeting is in anticipation of the upcoming joint primary election which is set for March 1, but with the deadline to register to vote to be January 31 they wanted to get the word out so the public is well informed. There were numerous candidates who made appearances at tonight’s meeting to share their platform.

The chair of the Victoria County Republican Party, Bill Pozzi, says that having this many candidates is a good thing for the party.

“In Victoria, in the Republican Party, we really go out of our way to have a lot of candidates. We really like that we’re happy when that happens because then we have a bench of folks that are always fantastic and that we can turn to if we ever need them,” says Pozzi.

Each candidate was given 2 minutes to introduce themselves and give an overview of their campaign and platform. Early voting for the primary election in Victoria will begin on February 14 so the candidates want to get their names out there for the public to know what to expect when they cast their ballot.
