Victoria Generals fall in season opener to Seguin River Monsters

Final score: 8-3 Seguin

VICTORIA, Generals — In their season opener, the Victoria Generals had a tough time getting any offense going against the pitching staff of the Seguin River Monsters.

The River Monsters proved it is supposed to be in the Texas Collegiate league  as they score four runs in the first inning forcing the Generals to make a pitching change early on. Things would get worse in the following innings. The River Monsters would add to its lead, eventually having a seven to nothing lead at one point. The Generals could not get anything going as the Seguin pitcher Matthew Johnson had a no hitter heading into the sixth inning. That would change when Generals Cole Turney would hit a two run blast, to put the Generals on the board for the first time this season.

The Generals would go on to lose 8-3. Victoria will host the Brazos Valley Bombers Wednesday night.
