Victoria Electric Cooperative honors twenty high school students with 1,500 scholarships

VICTORIA, Texas–What would have been a week long break from studying, sports, test preparation, and college admission tests, turned into an unanticipated end to the vitally important chapter for the Class of 2020. The abrupt arrival of COVID-19 put the world on pause and people around the world were pushed into a battle no one anticipated or prepared for.

Once again communities came together to persevere and support one another. Now more than ever it is our responsibility to model our mission by supporting our members and their pursuit for higher education.

Each year Victoria Electric Cooperative has the honor of awarding twenty $1500 scholarships to graduating seniors. In addition to having excelled academically, these students must show evidence of service to the community. Honest, humble and hardworking are just a few of the words that teachers, coaches and leaders in the community used to describe these young adults.

It is with great pride that Victoria Electric Cooperative awarded twenty deserving students with these scholarships. “Now more than ever we’ve seen the importance of educating our youth and assisting them in building their careers. Nurses, powerline workers, engineers and so many more require tools to be successful in their field of choice and it is our privilege to assist in their journey,” says Nina Campos, Manager of HR and Communications.
